I thought it might be a good idea to find a few of us who would be willing to do a dry run installfest. Say just the members on the list who are having problems with either a FreeBSD install or PCBSD, then later extending an invite to other groups to an full fledged install fest. The idea would be to get the egg on our faces early on in side the group, making sure we can solve just about any problem within the group before tackling a more major event. I'd like to see some more folks at the upcoming OCBUG meeting so we can discuss when, who, where, how. Ideally, Dru herself should be at that meeting. If she is interested enough, perhaps we should meet on another day next week or meet twice or ? - Diane -- - db at FreeBSD.org db at db.net http://www.db.net/~db ----- End forwarded message ----- -- - db at FreeBSD.org db at db.net http://www.db.net/~db From doverosx at gmail.com Fri Jan 7 17:34:50 2011 From: doverosx at gmail.com (Brodey Dover) Date: Fri, 7 Jan 2011 17:34:50 -0500 Subject: [ocbug] PCBSD/FreeBSD install fest In-Reply-To: <20110107223142.GA15978@night.db.net> References: <20110107223142.GA15978@night.db.net> Message-ID: I'm in, when is the next ocbug meeting? Perhaps we could do a *quick* in group installfest and do some last minute last minute debug for 8.2. THen do a full fledged installfest with anyone else who wants to show up. Normand Fisher Suggested he could find us some space for a large installfest. Obviously we couldn't do either the small or large installfest at the Colonnade. I am not sure we would need much space for an in-group installfest. Again, I was thinking we could bring *everything* spare CDs, USB sticks, various versions of BSDs so we can debug anything thrown at us. Of course, we'd also need some internet for backup support for this kind of venture. Then with a larger installfest we'd have a lot more confidence things will work. > > Cheers, > > Dru - Diane -- - db at FreeBSD.org db at db.net http://www.db.net/~db From db at db.net Fri Jan 7 18:14:46 2011 From: db at db.net (Diane Bruce) Date: Fri, 7 Jan 2011 18:14:46 -0500 Subject: [ocbug] PCBSD/FreeBSD install fest In-Reply-To: References: <20110107223142.GA15978@night.db.net> Message-ID: <20110107231446.GB16514@night.db.net> On Fri, Jan 07, 2011 at 05:43:38PM -0500, Murphy Scott wrote: > This month's meeting would normally be on the 19th, but we could change it to be the 18th. If anyone wants to bring their PC-BSD/FreeNAS issues along, I don't mind tackling those and submitting any issues to the testing list. I also don't mind bringing USB keys, CDs, DVDs either. I'm not too sure about location but I think a local College/University would have enough space/power/internet for us to make use of. Should be a first good OCBUG meeting for me ;).
